Location: abu dhabi airport is located 32 kms (around 20 miles) east of Abu Dhabi city.
Driving directions: Three highways lead from the city centre to the airport - Khaleej Al Arabi (highway 30), Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum Street (highway 2) and Salam Street (highway 8) all merge into one main highway which leads directly to Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Public transport: The municipal bus company runs a service to and from the city centre 24 hours a day in air-conditioned busses (which depart from outside arrivals). Al Ghazal taxis operate a fixed rate service to the city centre.
Airport facilities: There are ATMs, a bank and bureau de change and a post office.
Food and drink: coffee shops, snack bar and a bar / restaurant.
Shopping: there is a duty-free shopping complex plus a range of shops throughout the terminal.
Airport parking: both long and short term airport parking is available close to the departures and arrivals gates.
Airport hotels: A new 155 room airport hotel is under construction and is due to be completed by the end of 2004. It will boast a golf course, swimming pool, restaurant, cinema, health club and beauty salon.Until then the 5 star Abu Dhabi International Airport Hotel (telephone: (0)2 575 7377), a 'transit hotel' which has around 40 rooms, a VIP lounge, airport lounge, luggage store, business centre, restaurant, bar, children’s playroom, massage chairs, health club with jacuzzi, fully-equipped business centre, sauna and gym is your only airport hotel. Other than this, the city centre hotels are all around 25 - 35 kms from the airport.
