German, Greek and UK airports scoop awards at routes forum

Munich, Athens, Birmingham and Berlin Airports have been named winners of their respective categories in this year's OAG Airport Marketing Awards. The names of the successful airports were announced in Copenhagen at the Gala Dinner during the Routes - The 11th World Route Development Forum.
Sponsored by OAG, the Awards are voted for by the world`s airlines and serve as an indicator of an airport's success with its primary customers. Nominated, commended and winning airports were as follows:
Category 1 - Airports handling under 5 million passengers annually
- Winner: Berlin Schonefeld (SXF)
- Commended: Bristol (BRS); Liverpool John Lennon (LPL)
- Also nominated: Colombo (CMB); Orlando Sanford (SFB)
Category 2 - Airports handling between 5 and 10 million passengers annually
- Winner: Birmingham (BHX)
- Commended: Cologne (CGN); Geneva (GVA)
- Also nominated: Nice (NCE); Stuttgart (STR)
Category 3 - Airports handling between 10 and 25 million passengers annually
- Winner: Athens (ATH)
- Commended: Copenhagen (CPH); Zurich (ZRH)
- Also nominated: Dubai (DXB); Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
Category 4 - Airports handling more than 25 million passengers annually
- Winner: Munich (MUC)
- Commended: London Heathrow (LHR); Singapore (SIN)
- Also nominated: Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS); Hong Kong (HKG)
