Strike at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport hits dozens of flights
06.07.05
Dozens of flights have been delayed or cancelled at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris when staff working for a fuel-supply company went on strike. Airlines affected included Air France, American Airlines and United Airlines.
The strike followed the temporary suspension of a manager working for GPA, the main refuelling company at Charles de Gaulle airport. He was said to have signed in as present when he was in fact absent from work.
Airport sources said by the end of the afternoon at least nine flights had been cancelled and the airlines using GPA had been delayed by an average of 23 minutes. By then the managers suspension had been lifted by the company, but staff had decided to continue their industrial action.
