Staff at Dublin Airport are refusing to co-operate with a new online check-in system introduced by Ryanair.
The system, which was introduced last week on the airline's Dublin to Cork flights, allows passengers to print their boarding cards from their home or office computers before arriving at the airport. Ryanair is hoping to move will help it cut costs by reducing the number of check-in desks it needs.
Under the scheme, Dublin Airport Authority staff must scan a barcode on the printed boarding card before allowing the passenger to proceed to the departure gates. However, reports this morning suggest that staff were refusing to co-operate with this were telling passengers who arrive with printed boarding cards to go back through the check-in procedure.
The dispute has been referred to the Labour Relations Commission by the DAA.
